Youth Group: Prayer Service

Cancelled due to weather!

Join youth from Christ Dowling and Zion Luckey for an Advent Prayer Service. Based on the O Antiphons, a set of medieval refrains originally used before and after the singing of the Magnificat. Each invokes the Messiah under a different title derived from the Old Testament. This title is then amplified and followed by an appeal to “come” and save us in a particular way.

Around the twelfth century, they were collected into a Latin verse hymn, which was later translated by John Mason Neale, finally becoming the beloved Advent hymn “O come, O come, Emmanuel” (ELW 257, LBW 34).

These antiphons form the structure of this service that will be lead by the Zion and Christ Youth Group.

Confirmation and Vigil of Pentecost Worship Service

Confirmation and Vigil of Pentecost Worship Service

The teaching team has observed that the confirmation students are a very close group and are strong Lutheran leaders that will take this church deeper into this century. The team feels it is important to affirm the baptisms of this group together in one service. They have done all of the work together and we want them to be confirmed together.

RSVP Here

Confirmation usually happens on Pentecost Sunday. We are excited and pleased to announce that all students will be confirmed together on Saturday, June 7, 2025, the day of Pentecost, at a Vigil of Pentecost Service. The service will start at 5:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Luckey, Ohio. Our Conference Dean, Pastor Shawn O'Brien will be with us representing the synod and he will confirm our students. All members of all congregations will be invited.

The folks at Zion have graciously offered their fellowship hall for a celebration dinner after church.

We are hopeful that students will attend church the next day on Pentecost Sunday in their robes so that those members who could not attend on Saturday can properly welcome the new adult members of each congregation.

Rogation Days + Worship and Dinner

Rogation comes from the Latin "rogare" which means to beseech or to ask. On the festival of the Ascension (Christ ascent/return to heaven) we beseech God's blessing for the seed, for the soil, for those who labor in the fields and for all of God's creation.

Please let the church office know if you would like to have your farm, livestock, garden or agriculturally related business blessed between May 27th. and 29th.

You are invited to be our guest at a special worship service with a blessing of seed and soil followed by a dinner on Ascension Day, May 29th. This event is hosted by Solomon Lutheran Church in Woodville Ohio. Worship will be 6:00p with dinner immediately following worship (7:00p-ish). Please set some time away from your work to join us for a time of blessing, renewal. You may also bring a handful of seed and soil from your farm or garden to be blessed during worship. You are also invited to drive a tractor to worship that evening if you would like.
